Wolfgang Joop has been doing some writing. The result: An intimate memoir about his childhood days in Potsdam, first jobs as an illustrator of pin-up girls and his early steps as a fashion designer when the term fashion design wasn’t even coined yet. Actually it’s more than a memoir. It’s a precise portrait of the 50s and 60s in Germany, and a case study in West and East German history.
